After finsihing my time as a volunteer, it was time to pick up my lovely wife at the airport in Windhoek. The last sunday, 21st may it was the time! I really was excited, and a bit nervous as well. After I got our car, I drove the first time on the left side on the streets, and the right side in the car. After arriving (and of course definitly too early) at the airport, the big moment was there. After 13 weeks, 91 days and a lot of phonecalls and whatsapp, we had each other again. It was amazing.
The first day, sunday, we spent at the lodge in Windhoek. Just relaxing and telling a lot of stories about the last few weeks.
Our adventure startet Monday, 22nd. First stop: Kalahari Desert-. The first lodge was amazing. Our chalet had a view all over the desert, just in front of a waterhole. It was just ravishing. The first game drive we mad together, we saw a lot of animals and I was so happy to be able to experience this togehter with my great love. We also had an amazing sundowner out in the desert. Our lodge, the Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranche, is just great - very nice persons, great food, just an amazing location.
After two days we drove to Sesriem and Sossusvlei. Next lodge: Dead Valley Lodge. Also a wonderful place. Early in the morning we drove towards Sossusvlei to climb the *big daddy" and to visit the death vlei. And yes - we mad the climb even faster, than I did it the first time - great stuff! The night from thursday to friday was freezing. At friday we drove to the Rostock Ritz Lodge - out in the Namib desert. The wideness, the open fields, the quiteness and the sunsets - just priceless. We had a nice hike and a really unique accomodation. The first days of our trip were within the Namib Naukluft National Park - a wonderful place. The landscap is changing almost every minute. We saw rocky areas, the desert, a lot of sand and some mountains and also a huge open space.
And now, we arrived at Swapkopmund. A nice little town. It is much colder here, than in the desert. It is foggy and a bit misty. But the place is so lovely.
Yes, the start in our adventure was more than exciting. First of all, we both are happy, to be together again, but we^re enjoying the trip so much. To drive on the gravelroads took a bit of time. Meanwhile I know how to drove - I'm not a namibian, but close to it :)
